HISTORY: Rafael Vega and Rod Wilson met in high school where they began a friendly rivalry that turned into mutual admiration. They competed in everything from grades to athletics and drove each other to excel in all areas.  Their friendship continued into adulthood and Wilson even dated and eventually married Vega’s sister Arlene Vega (see Zepher).
            Vega and Wilson later joined the same dojo where they began their martial arts training under Sensei Richardson, master of Shotokan karate. While both did well Vega displayed unusual aptitude for the martial arts and Sensei Richardson took special interest in his training. Even after Wilson left the dojo to pursue other interests Vega stayed on to learn all Sensei Richardson had to teach him.  Vega began traveling the world training in different disciplines and competing in world class competition. Later he opened his own dojo where he passed on his sensei’s teaching.
            One evening Wilson mysteriously appeared at Vega’s dojo, rendered him unconscious and abducted him. When Vega woke he had been transformed into a being of incredible power. Wilson, now going by the name Vector, told him that he too had been transformed in order to defend the world from destruction (see Vector) and that he had to recruit him in this manner to protect his mind. He explained that the transformation required a psychic fusion with an ancient intelligence and that previous knowledge would have made him vulnerable. Now Vega contains the memories and skills of a powerful warrior combined with his own formidable skills.
            Now going by the code name Shatter, Vega trains by Vector’s side in preparation to battle for earth and to defend it with honor.

POWERS: The capped portion of Shatter’s genetic code has been unlocked resulting in physiological changes in his body. The area of Shatter’s brain responsible for the generation and control of psionic energy (dubbed the God Module by scientist) has been greatly enhanced giving him the psionic ability to alter specific earthen elements and matter on a molecular level. In this manner Shatter can cause earthquakes, tremors, or land slides. Shatter can turn solid rock or metal ore to a molten state in seconds causing spontaneous lava eruptions, flows, or pits. Shatter can literally animate earthen elements to a variety of effects.  Such as creating rock shields or barriers, even giant “golems” that follow his every command. He can also move vast amounts of earth (in excess of 10,000 cubic tons) over vast distances.
 Shatter is capable of generating and projecting seismic energy and tremendously powerful waves of vibrations at or into any object. The vibrations emanate outwards from his hands causing objects to shatter or crumble. This ability has an effective range of about 200 ft.
Shatter is superhumanly strong; enabling him to lift up to 25 tons under normal conditions. He is able to double his strength temporarily by forming a symbiotic bond with the earth.   In this symbiotic state he can sense any type of earthbound movement or seismic activity for at least a 100 mile radius.
Shatter has some limited control over the effect gravity has on his body and can fly at speeds up to 70mph. However he slowly loses strength when separated from the ground and prefers to ride on a boulder which he levitates and can propel through the air.
Shatter is an accomplished martial artist disciplined in many fighting styles. He is a master of Shotokan, a school of karate reflecting the style of the initial students of Gichin Funakoshi. The combination of fighting skills and the explosive power in his fists make Shatter a devastating fighter.

Paraphernalia:
Uni-suit- All Vindicator’s wear a uni-suit. The uni-suit is made of an extremely durable yet flexible material that is resistant to puncture and tearing, temperature extremes, molecular acids, and ballistic penetration. The uni-suit when fitted with a multi-badge is capable of being reconfigured on a molecular level in order to change its appearance and/or function. For example when properly configured the multi-badge can change a uni-suit from civilian guise to battle suit. This transformation is immediate on command and permanent until changed by the wearer. Some configurations require additional mass such as battle armor and space armor.

Multi-Badge- The multi-badge is actually a super compact information-processing interface capable of several functions. Some of these functions include but are not limited to;
1. Communications- The multi-badge is compatible with all known types of electronic communication. The multi-badges are capable of communicating with each other and the Vindicator base units over vast distances and cannot be blocked by conventional means.

2. Data processing- The multi-badge is a powerful super computer capable of a peak processing speed of 1 teraflop (trillion calculations per second). When in communication with the Vindicator’s base computer (See Rhea) the multi-badge has access to the vast knowledge it has collected on its travels through the universe. Even on its own, separated from the Vindicator's base computer the multi-badge contains approx. 100 terabytes of information.

3. Textile configuration interface- The uni-suit’s function and appearance can be changed with the multi-badge. This function is dependant on available programming.

4.   Multi-media projector- The multi-badge can project 2D images or 3D holographic images.

5.   Medical diagnostic tool- The multi-badge is capable of monitoring the wearer’s vital signs and diagnosing any disease or injury.
 
Nano-patch- The nano-patch is an all-purpose emergency first-aid application that can rapidly treat or repair most illnesses or injuries. The nano-patch is a self-adhering patch that is loaded with nano-machines that are pre-programmed with a complete database of human physiology and the means to repair it.  The nano-patch can return a critically injured individual to fighting strength in minutes. The nano-patch does not heal all injuries completely or immediately. It is meant as an emergency measure and serious injuries require adequate recuperation time to completely heal.
